New Quotes!!

When I was asked to write a few words about the group Four Seasons I was more than happy. The name derives from the fact the groups consists a Swede, a Brazilian, a Greek ans an Austrian. Also all four members are recent graduates of KUG Konservatory of Graz, Austria which I had a Professorship for seven years so in a way I have been witness to some part of their musical development. The music you will hear are original pieces by the members of the group which consists of trombone, trumpet, bass and drums. The music is fully developed and the playing is of a consistently high level. It’s the kind of music you must really pay attention to, both the solos and ensemble playing captures your attention. I personally loved the interplay between the members and know that this group has the potential of being one of the more important new groups you will hear. Enjoy it as much as I have.

4Seasons covers a lot of territory, the band navigates complex rhythmic forms and also more open sections, different sonic moods and above all else, each player demonstrates a grounding in the tradition of jazz and swing!

New Review from Felix Jureček , Kronen Zeitung

Greek, Brazilian, Swedish and Austrian youth experiences were united and directed to one splendid sound in the music of Four Seasons from Graz.

It is the clear instrumental voices of rising trumpet star Gerhard Ornig, trombonist Karel Eriksson with the impeccable rhythm side of bassist Vasilis Koutsonanos and drummer Luis Andre Carneiro de Olivera. It resulted in a brilliant up-tempo brass sound with lots of seaside and high mountainous shades of light and an attractive stage presentation.

The music’s mark: fresh with a scent of West Coast nostalgia.

Review by Henning Bolte

Ornig’s virtuosic command of the trumpet is astonishing, but equally, it’s the fluid lines of Eriksson’s trombone that make this quartet shine

Expressive, Jagged; Fresh, as the day is Jung; Melodic like cats, Rhythmically °hyper-charged°; Grounded in sanity & taste"

Really impressed with the quality of the solos as well as their written material.

Review Tony Dudley-Evans, British jazz promoter

The two horns, no chords structure is is an ideal platform to showcase the individual talents up front of Ornig on trumpet, ably abetted by the Swedish trombone of Karel Eriksson. Underpinning this frontline is a tight rhythm section in Koutsonanos and de Oliveira which provides ample space for all musicians to exercise their will on the band. The sum of these collective parts is very convincing, with tight unison melodies and engaging dynamics over taut rhythmic structures.
This is a band that are clearly at ease in each others company and together their combined nationalities offer rich opportunities for creative writing that reflects their transnational makeup
